So, here it is again, kindly but firmly: Could you please eat just one vegetable?

I get it; your innate cravings for sugar and fat are as old as our ancestors. I have no intention of turning mealtime into a battlefield like our parents did with us. But here’s the reality: those cravings we have were established in caveman days, long before the big agricultural companies turned our food system into a circus of unhealthy options.

That’s why I’m asking you to try this organic carrot or perhaps this fresh leaf of spinach. Remember that kale we planted? Well, your dad did the hard work there. I’m not taking credit for that!

And just to clarify, I’m not diving into another parenting book for tips on how to sneak veggies into your diet. Honestly, I’m too busy with my adult coloring book to read up on that sort of thing.

You should also appreciate—yet again—that you live in a time and place where your parents can afford fresh, organic produce. It’s a privilege that not everyone has, and it’s essential to recognize that gummy bear vitamins can’t provide all the nutrients your bodies need.

However, merely touching a carrot or leafy green to your tongue and refusing to chew or swallow won’t do the trick either. I’m no nutrition expert, considering most of my calories come from dark chocolate ice cream after you’re asleep each night. But I do know that we need a little more balance!

Oh, and Max, can we talk about that time you came upstairs half-asleep and made a mess? That was a bit of a downer, my friend!

But back to the real issue: your veggies. I’m not asking for a full plate—just one. Just one simple vegetable, please. I’m really counting on you.
