Dear Samuel,
Twelve years ago tonight, I was deep in the throes of labor, feeling every wave of discomfort wash over me. Alone in my apartment, I finally reached a point where I had to call your father to take me to the hospital. Little did I know, in just a few short hours, our lives would be forever transformed with your arrival.
You, my dear boy, have been with me since the very beginning of our family journey, which started with just you and me. I often reflect on how far we’ve come together. From the moment you made me a mother, you have witnessed every milestone and twist along the way.
Our family expanded joyfully when you were just a year old, welcoming your stepfather into our lives. When you turned three, we celebrated with the birth of your half-sister. But now, as we stand on the brink of your twelfth birthday, I have a newfound perspective. I realize we’ve traveled this road together, neither of us truly prepared for what lay ahead. We’ve both endured life’s trials and witnessed the lessons that came our way. You’ve seen me grow and learn, and in many ways, we’ve matured side by side.
Tomorrow marks your twelfth birthday, a stepping stone into a future filled with potential. I see you picking up your own shield and donning your armor, wisdom already radiating from you.
