Some of my closest friends have chosen a child-free lifestyle, while for others, it’s simply the way life has unfolded. As a mom, I often find myself daydreaming about all the things I could do if I weren’t juggling the responsibilities of parenting. That’s when it hit me—I could reach out to my friends for some inspiration. While my days are now filled with little ones, I can still live vicariously through their adventures. So here’s a list of activities I’d love for you to indulge in on my behalf.
1. Enjoy a Night Out with Drinks
I’m all about that occasional glass of wine. But let’s be real—what I miss is a night out where I can sip on creative cocktails and have fun with friends. I want you to experience those themed drinks and shots that taste like candy. Stay out late, dance like nobody’s watching, and then come back to share all the juicy stories over a glass of wine.
2. Rock Those High Heels
I recently tried on my old heels for the first time in years, and let’s just say my feet weren’t happy with me. I miss how fabulous they make me feel! Wear those heels to the store or out on the town. Strut your stuff and take note of the heads you turn. Heels are the ultimate symbol of confidence and glamour—embrace it for the both of us.
3. Let Loose with Some Colorful Language
As a mom, my vocabulary has become, well, sanitized. I can’t help but reminisce about the days when I could freely express my frustrations with a well-placed swear word. Don’t hold back! Call out that frustrating driver or express your annoyance with a cheeky exclamation. I’ll be living through your liberating language choices.
4. Stay Up Past Your Bedtime
I often daydream about binge-watching shows and snacking late into the night. But come 10 p.m., I’m out for the count. So, while you’re up late, indulge in those guilty pleasures and let me know what I’m missing. Whether it’s a late-night movie marathon or infomercial laughs, I want to hear all about it!
5. Dressing Room Adventures
Shopping trips have become a juggling act with kids in tow. I envy those carefree moments of trying on clothes without the rush. Dive into the dressing room with a pile of outfits, spin around in front of that mirror, and pick what you truly love. Share your shopping triumphs and mishaps with me later!
6. Sit at the Bar
The bar scene is off-limits for kiddos, and I often find myself eyeing the calm and collected adults at the bar while I deal with dinner chaos. I want you to soak in the ambiance, enjoy a few drinks, and maybe even have a quirky conversation with someone interesting. Your tales of bar escapades will be my escape.
7. Use a Public Restroom Without Stress
It may sound trivial, but I can no longer appreciate the luxury of using a public restroom without a toddler in tow. With kids, it’s a race against time! So, next time you find yourself near a public restroom, take a moment to savor the solitude. I promise to live through your blissful bathroom break.
I know life is busy for all of us, and your challenges are very real. But as friends, we can share these experiences. One day, when it’s your turn to reminisce about the things you miss, I’ll be here to listen and maybe return the favor.
