So, that’s the trick behind her effortless Halloween magic.

Listen, if you’re one of those parents who seems to conjure up holiday cheer without breaking a sweat, don’t take it to heart when the rest of us poke a little fun. You get to shine in parenting, while the rest of us take solace in our own delightful chaos. It’s a fair trade-off, isn’t it?

For those of us who feel like we’re constantly in over our heads with crafts and festivities, I’ve got a few words of wisdom. If you haven’t sorted out your child’s Halloween costume yet, do yourself a favor and steer clear of Pinterest. Trust me, it’s a deep, dark hole that will leave you questioning your parenting skills and wishing for a fairy godmother. Instead, jump online and hope that Amazon still has some decent costumes available — and that they can get to you in time with Prime shipping. Or, if you’re feeling brave, gear up for the chaos that is Party City just days before Halloween.

And if you’re tasked with bringing a treat to school, ditch that bag of candy corn. There’s a super simple classroom snack you can whip up with minimal effort: witches’ hats. Just grab some fudge stripe cookies, flip them over, add a dollop of frosting in the center, and top it off with a Hershey’s kiss. Done!

I’m no culinary expert, and yet, I managed to make those. I thought about adding little buckles made from yellow gummy tape, but let’s be real — that was a hard pass.

So, go ahead and grab that last Spider-Man costume that’s two sizes too big, throw together some mediocre snacks, and treat yourself to a couple dozen fun-size Snickers. There’s always next year to try again.
