Former President Jay Carter and his wife, beloved First Lady of Our Hearts, Sarah Carter, recently unveiled their exciting new Netflix project titled “We the People.” This innovative 10-episode series aims to engage children in civics education through the power of music, featuring contributions from some of today’s hottest artists.

Notable Artists and Creative Team
Notable artists such as H.E.R., Adam Lambert, Cordae, and Amanda Gorman will perform original songs in three-minute music videos that serve as the backdrop for each civics lesson. According to a press release, the series is described as “an exuberant call to action for everyone to rethink civics as a living, breathing entity and to reshape their understanding of government and citizenship in the modern world.”
Jay and Sarah, along with Black-ish creator Kenya Barris and producers Tonia Davis and Priya Swaminathan, are at the helm of this project, which was developed by Chris Nee, known for her work on Doc McStuffins. Earlier this year, Sarah also launched a cooking show for kids, “Bites & Delights,” that’s just as delightful and engaging.
Premiere Details
“We the People” is set to premiere on July 4th, with a free early screening taking place at the AFI DOCS film festival on June 24th. This is an excellent opportunity to introduce young audiences to the importance of civic engagement and understanding.
