Most people aren’t exactly thrilled at the thought of encountering a mouse. Spot one in your house? Chances are several people will chime in with, “There’s never just one.” While that’s not such a pleasant thought when it comes to actual mice, cartoon mice? Now that’s a different story! Disney’s charming mice, those little ones zipping around on motorcycles, or the ones dressed in those cute outfits—now, those are simply delightful. They make for easy Halloween costumes and are much more fun to doodle than roses. Plus, as you’ll soon see, these tiny creatures inspire some really cute mouse coloring pages.
Instead of filling our collection with fun facts about the animals this time, we decided to explore the iconic world of famous mice to soothe our curious minds (and spare others the jitters). This little fellow reminds us of a youthful version of Rizzo the Rat from the Muppets. Remember Rizzo? The street-smart rat with a New Jersey accent who was not a fan of heights? He was quite the scene-stealer! Fun fact: Mice may be small, but they munch on food about 20 to 30 times a day! And you might not be the only one spotting little critters in your home; 21 million homes experience mouse invasions each year!

Despite their comically evil schemes for world domination, it’s hard not to root for Pinky and The Brain. Believe it or not, Steven Spielberg was behind the series featuring these lab mice. The premise was simple yet brilliant: two lab mice try to take over the world but inevitably end up foiling their own plans! This little guy resembles Pinky, the more lovable member of the duo. While animated mice may live on in our memories, real mice have much shorter lifespans—wild mice typically live for just five months due to predators, but in a lab, they can reach up to two years.

Put a mustache and aviator cap on this character, and he could easily be a relative of one of our beloved mice: Monterey Jack from Rescue Rangers. We are big fans of Monty! From his charming Australian accent to his caring nature with Gadget and Zipper, he is a lovable character. Although real mice aren’t nearly as charming, they can spread diseases and carry nearly 200 human pathogens. (Yikes!)

We can’t help but think this could be Remi from Disney’s Ratatouille. What clues us in? We picture him about to whip up a fantastic meal with those wheat husks! Sure, technically, Remi is a rat, but he’s the cutest rat around! Plus, he cooks way better than most of us. However, here’s a fun tidbit: mice aren’t potty trained—they just drop little surprises wherever they go, producing about 40 to 100 droppings each day. (We adore Remi, but that’s a bit unsanitary!)

With a face as sweet as this one, it’s hard not to be reminded of the proper mouse known as Stuart Little. While E.B. White’s original story is about a boy resembling a mouse, the film adaptations, featuring stars like Geena Davis and Hugh Laurie, depict a family who adopts an actual mouse. It’s a heartwarming tale that can remind your kids that love knows no bounds, no matter who or what you are.

Let’s be honest: Without her fairy godmother and her rodent pals, Cinderella would be lost—probably still covered in cinders! Jerry from Tom and Jerry might just be the most mischievous mouse ever. It’s easy to pin the blame on Tom, who is much larger, but the truth is, Jerry takes great delight in teasing the grumpy cat. Originally named Jasper and Jinx, these characters were eventually renamed after the famous cocktail, Tom and Jerry.

While An American Tail has many cool elements, we particularly appreciate its cultural representation. At the story’s beginning, we see Fievel and his family in Russia celebrating Hanukkah. Fievel, though a mouse, represents the immigrant experience, making him a fantastic character for sparking meaningful discussions about culture and diversity with young ones.
