Ana Liss’s Allegations
Liss, who worked as a policy and operations aide to Cuomo from 2013 to 2015, described incidents where Cuomo inquired about her relationship status, referred to her as “sweetheart,” and touched her on the lower back. She also recounted a moment when he kissed her hand as she stood up from her desk.
Karen Hinton’s Encounter
Hinton, a former press aide, shared a troubling encounter from the year 2000 when Cuomo, then leading the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, invited her to his hotel room after a work event. Although she attempted to distance herself, Cuomo allegedly pulled her back, making her feel uncomfortable. “It was inappropriate. We both were married. I worked for him and it was too personal and intimate,” she told NBC New York.

Prior to these recent accusations, Charlotte Bennett claimed that Cuomo discussed his interest in dating younger women, while Lindsey Boylan accused him of kissing her in his office in 2018. Boylan detailed her experiences in an essay published on Medium, including an invitation to play strip poker on a state plane and comments made about her appearance.

Liss initially perceived Cuomo’s behavior as harmless flirting but later found it condescending, noting it diminished her professional identity. “It’s not appropriate, really, in any setting,” she asserted.

In response to these allegations, Rich Azzopardi, a senior adviser to Cuomo, defended the governor’s actions, stating that such behavior is common in political settings. Cuomo himself acknowledged the evolving standards of behavior, expressing a willingness to learn from the situation.

Calls for Cuomo’s resignation have emerged from various political figures, including Rep. Elise Stefanik and State Assemblymember Pamela Hunter, who emphasized that all sexual harassment claims should be taken seriously.
