Why I Can’t Attend Your Weeknight Gathering

Dear Friends,

I appreciate your invitations, but I have to decline your mid-week events. While I genuinely cherish our friendship, my introverted nature leaves me feeling drained after a busy day, making it tough to muster the energy to socialize, no matter how much I want to be there.

For extroverts, social interactions are invigorating; they thrive in bustling environments. However, for me, simply being around people at work is exhausting. I share my life with a lively 2.5-year-old and a wonderful partner, both of whom I adore and want to support emotionally. Balancing my time and energy to be fully present for them can be quite taxing.

Adding to this is the array of adult responsibilities, such as home renovations and caring for our pets. By the end of the day, I often find myself utterly spent. The highlight of my evenings is settling onto the couch with my partner, indulging in X-Files reruns. That’s where I recharge.

I promise I care deeply and will carve out time to connect, but I hope you understand that weeknights are usually off the table. Perhaps I’ll see you on a Friday instead!

In summary, while I value our friendship, my introverted nature and daily responsibilities make attending mid-week gatherings challenging. I look forward to seeing you on weekends instead!
