Let go of the all-or-nothing mindset. While it’s vital to prioritize your kids, your well-being is equally important for effective parenting. We must set aside dedicated time for self-care—aim for at least twelve hours a week. It sounds daunting, but with approximately 112 waking hours in a week, finding 12 for yourself is feasible. If I can do it, so can you!

What is one worry that you’ve learned isn’t worth your time?

I often see parents boasting about their children’s achievements, from speaking early to winning awards. My kids are just regular kids, and that’s perfectly okay. They hit milestones at their own pace, and I have no doubt they’ll navigate life just fine.

When was the last time you used your kids as an excuse to skip something?

Just five minutes ago!

How much sleep do you need to function?

I need at least six hours to feel okay. Thankfully, now that my children are older, I manage to get more sleep—though not as much as I’d prefer.
