Thompson told Home Insemination Kit that her goal was to bring some laughter and levity to an otherwise tense news cycle filled with political debates and heavy stories: “I just wanted to make people smile again. I never anticipated that we would surpass 1,000 shares in just a few days and be featured in a major magazine shortly after! The response was beyond anything we could have imagined.”
Indeed, the internet could use a dose of joy, and these images of her friend, Mark Jennings, playfully enjoying a farm setting deliver just that. Thompson captioned the album, “Because the gents deserve a bit of fun in the land of the free.”
“This was my very first dudeoir shoot; I typically focus on weddings,” she shared with Home Insemination Kit. “I had seen something similar last winter and felt inspired to add my personal flair. Just two days after sharing the photos, it climbed to the top 20 most downloaded posts on Imgur, and we were ecstatic to see how much everyone loved it!”
Thompson had been mulling over the concept for a while but was searching for the ideal model. Friends were suggesting their partners, yet nothing seemed to fit what she envisioned. “Then I stumbled upon a photo of Mark on Facebook and thought, ‘Bingo!’ He was precisely what I had been looking for. I asked if he would be interested, and he jumped at the chance.” The laughter was so infectious during the shoot that she often had to pause to compose herself. “We are both just so thrilled that we could spread some smiles,” she expressed.
