Welcome to Montessori School: A Glimpse into Daily Life

So, you’ve enrolled your child in a Montessori school? Here’s a glimpse into what you might expect, as captured in their daily updates:

First Day Adventures

What a wonderful first day for Mia! She appears to be thriving in her individual work, perhaps because she prefers her own company!

Day Two: A Bit Sleepy

A bit of a sleepy day! Mia struggled to nap during the music circle, but we’re confident she’ll adapt soon 🙂 Lunch consisted of avocado, peanut butter apple slices, and some ancient grains.

Finding Her Voice

Mia is truly finding her voice! She’s definitely the most vocal child in the class—if we handed out awards, she’d win “Most Enthusiastic”, not that we do that because of the whole #patriarchy thing. But still, it’s quite impressive!

Dress Code Reminder

Thanks for the spare outfit! Just a heads up, we encourage clothing without words, patterns, or bright colors, so we dressed her in a locally sourced hemp poncho. So chic! 🙂

Playground Fun

Mia had a blast on the playground! Her strength is increasing, but maybe not enough? Have you thought about adding a climbing structure at home? You just need some unblemished pine and 14 feet of wall space. It’s a breeze!

Birthday Celebrations

Happy 2nd birthday to Mia! Sorry about the three dozen personalized cupcakes we had to send back 🙁 But we trust you understand that the special birthday walk in the sunshine is the best celebration!

Lunch: kale chips, kefir, and gluten-free crackers.

Adventurous Day

Mia had a wonderfully adventurous day! A substitute mistook her for a boy, which is super exciting because she’s breaking down gender norms!

Important Reminders

Quick reminder: we’ll be closing early on Tuesday to celebrate the spring equinox, so please pick up your little ones by 9:45 a.m.! Enjoy the first quarter moon!

Lunch: oatmeal, fish sauce, and persimmon.

Ambitious Mia

Mia is full of ambition today! How fitting for a Capricorn! It’s amusing since she’s technically a Virgo?? Have you thought about having someone create her astrological chart? Our assistant guide is a certified astrologist, just saying!

Playtime Shenanigans

Haha, Liam used Mia’s diapers to build a fort! Can you send more? For now, she’s enjoying some free-range time in the backyard!

Parent Education Night

Don’t forget about Parent Education Night tomorrow at 4 p.m. We’ll discuss “How to Say No Without Saying No” and other enlightening topics. Next month’s discussions will include child-led potty training and crafting tiny chairs!

Incident Report

Apologies for the rash mix-up! The full-body hives photo was meant for Clara’s parents, obviously!

Did you receive the incident report? Liam took Mia’s shape sorter, and she gave him a little scratch with a baby mum-mum 🙁 It’s just a tiny cut, but if you could sign the form and avoid sending sharp foods for a bit, that would be appreciated!

Volunteer Opportunities

Hello, parents of the Montessori Maple Class! Just a reminder that you all have 50 volunteer hours to complete by week’s end to avoid a $400 fee! We’re in need of a master carpenter to construct custom reclaimed-wood bookshelves, a lepidopterist for a butterfly excursion, and a kombucha expert to care for our classroom SCOBY. If anyone knows someone who can lead a traditional Japanese tea ceremony, please reach out!

A Wild Day

It’s been quite a wild day! The toddlers executed their mutiny threat and locked us all in the supply closet—LOL!

Health Alert

Hi everyone! One of our friends has been coming to school with something akin to “pink eye” and seems to be sharing it! Not implying it’s on purpose, but we’ll be closed for an indefinite period to sanitize and to have the classroom smudged with sagebrush.
