But on Halloween morning, you surprised me by declaring you wanted to be “Headband Girl.” I was initially perplexed—there’s no such character! But your determination shone through as you donned multiple headbands and a colorful cape. As I snapped photos of you, you shared that the rope in your pocket was for saving people from lakes. In that moment, I realized that you truly are your own superhero, and I couldn’t help but feel inspired by your unique vision.
However, I was reminded of the complexity of identity when I saw you and a friend in tears over wanting to be Elsa. This brings me to my next point.
Make Room for Everyone
While it may seem contradictory, I want you to understand that everyone—especially women—has the potential to be strong and powerful. Just because someone else wants to embody Elsa doesn’t mean you can’t too. The world is vast enough to accommodate multiple Elsas. Make space for others to shine. As you grow, you’ll encounter pressures that might urge you to conceal your strength. Resist that urge. Embrace your power alongside others, especially women. The world needs to see that kind of solidarity among strong individuals; let’s make it happen.

I understand your fascination with Ariel, the enchanting mermaid who navigates the mysteries of the ocean. Mermaids symbolize freedom and exploration, which is captivating. You might not yet realize how powerful your voice is, but know that it’s your unique essence that will always shine through, much like Ariel’s song. You don’t need to sacrifice who you are to find happiness. Remember, pursuing your dreams should never mean compromising your identity. Keep your mermaid tail, my dear. It’s part of what makes you, you.
