I’m not one to place bets, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a little incentive for the Starbucks barista who concocts the quirkiest coffee drink for the fall and winter menus. It all kicked off with the Pumpkin Spice Craze, and before you know it, twigs and flan—ingredients you’d typically find in a suspicious trail mix—started popping up in their offerings. Now, as I stroll through fields that are just starting to bloom during the first sunny days of spring, I’m left wondering if I should enjoy my coffee as is or sprinkle in some nature’s odds and ends from the ground.
But alas, spring has arrived, and those nutty fruitcake Frappuccinos have tucked themselves away for a long nap. What’s a coffee lover to do? Where are the springtime goodies? Since their fancy chalkboards haven’t showcased anything that tickles my fancy now that the sun is shining, I’ve whipped up a few suggestions that capture the essence of spring—think of them as the floral-scented counterparts to those winter lattes. Here’s to a delightful sip of creativity!
