In a bustling city, a spirited four-year-old named Lily had an undeniable obsession with Curious George. She adored everything about him—his books, his TV antics, and her cherished stuffed animal version of the little monkey. So when her mom and grandma announced a trip to New York City, Lily was convinced she’d meet George in person. After all, he lived there, right? Concerned about her possible disappointment, her family deliberated on how to handle her expectations. They decided to gently explain that many people take vacations during the Labor Day weekend, and George might be one of them. But did that deter Lily? Not a chance! She was bubbling with anticipation at the thought of encountering her favorite character.
Then, they had a brainstorm: why not write George a letter? “I’m going to be in your city. Can I see you?” they helped Lily jot down. They addressed the envelope to: Curious George, c/o The Man in the Yellow Hat, Central Park West, NY, New York. Lily thought it was pure genius!
Upon arriving at their hotel, Lily eagerly positioned herself by the window. The next morning, to her delight, she found a small gift bag waiting outside their door. Attached was a card explaining that George was out of town but sending her well wishes and a few surprises.
“George is so sweet!” Lily exclaimed, carrying the bag into the room, while Mom and Grandma breathed a sigh of relief. With everyone happy, they set off to explore the city, hopping on a carriage ride through Central Park before boarding a tour bus to cruise around Manhattan.
Lily was thrilled, recalling that George had ridden a bus too. She plopped herself next to the driver and kept a keen eye out for her hero. Suddenly, she leaned forward, eyes wide with excitement, and asked, “Do you know Curious George?”
