Recently, I had the opportunity to visit New York City for a whirlwind trip that involved promoting my latest book and filming a segment for a popular daytime talk show. Honestly, it was a much-needed escape from the chaos of home, particularly from my husband’s nightly symphony of snoring. Plus, I was overdue for a haircut—thank you to the fabulous team at Ouidad for rescuing my hair!
During my time there, I sat on a panel with some familiar faces from reality TV: Tia Mowry and Jenni Pulos. We dove into a lively discussion about the “mommy issues of the day.” I couldn’t help but notice the expression on the host’s face as I shared an amusing anecdote about my daughter, Lily, critiquing my naked body. At least she complimented my scent, so I guess that’s a win, right?
Things took a hilarious turn when Jenni Pulos broke into an unexpected rap about poop. I sat there in disbelief, wondering if I was truly witnessing someone rapping about bodily functions or if I was just imagining it. But nope, it was real—proof is in the video!
I also had a chance encounter with a star from a reality show, Kathy Rivers, and I made a cheeky comment about her height. I’m sure she appreciated that! To redeem myself, I told her she looked remarkably youthful, which hopefully smoothed things over a bit.
The train ride home was an adventure of its own. I found myself attempting to remove my eyelash extensions, which were applied in a way that made it look like I was yanking out my actual lashes. It was no surprise when the two passengers next to me decided to move seats. But hey, at least I smelled good!
So that was my quick trip to New York, filled with laughter, surprises, and a reminder that maybe I shouldn’t venture out too often.
