The Wonder of Birth

Recently, I received a video from three different friends featuring a young girl who is witnessing the miracle of her own birth. They all insisted I “grab some tissues” because it was “one of the most stunning things” I’d ever see.

Take a look for yourself! (Or just skim through the first few seconds for a quick idea.)

Now, I might be a bit of a skeptic, but I didn’t feel a single tear fall.

It’s not that I don’t appreciate the beauty of childbirth—after all, aside from the awkwardness of, let’s say, unexpected bathroom moments and those stylish, post-delivery underwear choices, it truly is a wonder (in theory, at least). However, if I could have viewed my own birth as a child, or even now, I can assure you it wouldn’t resemble the heartwarming clip above.

In summary, while childbirth is undoubtedly a miraculous event, the reality of the situation can often be a bit less glamorous than the heartwarming portrayals we see.
