I was so consumed with avoiding any wardrobe malfunctions on the Today Show and other related events that I completely dropped the ball on promoting my reading at Barnes and Noble at 7 PM. I mean, completely.
We rolled up at 6:45 to find the room utterly deserted. I mean, like, ghost town empty. Seriously. When I peeked out at 6:55, there were precisely two people in the audience—two sweet octogenarians who clearly had no clue who I was, and were just hunting for a peaceful spot to rest. Yikes! Great job, Jenna!
Luckily, a few more folks trickled in, sparing me the awkwardness of chatting exclusively with strangers who could have been my grandparents. But reading to a vast room that could barely muster ten attendees? Quite the humbling experience, and not one I’m eager to replicate anytime soon. So, if you hear I’m coming to your area, please, come out and support! I promise to do a better job of spreading the word this time around.
