While traditional cake smash photo shoots for little ones (or adults) are undeniably cute, they have become somewhat predictable. Enter the delightful Taco Bell-themed baby photoshoot! Who doesn’t love indulging in tacos while donning an adorable tutu? Thankfully, this unique twist seems to be gaining popularity.
When planning her daughter Mia’s first birthday photos, Samantha Johnson had a lightbulb moment. Working with photographer Julia Aiello from Julia Marie Photography, they quickly transformed the idea into reality. Aiello shared, “Samantha and I have been friends for years, and my love for tacos is well-known. When she suggested a Taco Bell smash, I thought it was a brilliant and imaginative concept, and I was excited to bring it to life!”
Aiello continued, “I designed the setup and made sure to get Samantha’s approval. I found a cute ‘taco bout a party’ banner and a tassel banner on Etsy, while I crafted the taco shell banner myself. Samantha even started collecting sauce packets early on, which added a perfect touch!”
Samantha sourced a 12-pack of tacos, along with trays from the Taco Bell in Springfield, MO. The end result? Pure perfection.
Now, a bit of background: Samantha has a special connection with Taco Bell. “She actually went into labor with her second child in the drive-thru, although that wasn’t the case with Mia! Plus, Samantha and her partner had their first unofficial date at that very Taco Bell years ago,” Aiello explained.
It seems at least one of their children has inherited their parents’ love for Taco Bell!
Aiello expressed her initial concerns about how the shoot would go, as many babies either dive into their food or reject it entirely, based on her experience with classic cake smash sessions. However, when the tray of tacos was placed in front of Mia, she eagerly dug in, surprising everyone!
That’s because Mia knows a good thing when she sees it.
And of course, after a Taco Bell feast, a total strip-down and a bath is the only logical conclusion!
