It’s pure enchantment! A group of college students has donned the costumes of beloved Disney princesses, bringing joy to young patients battling serious illnesses in hospitals. Their visits transform gloomy days into magical moments, reminding us all of the power of kindness.
The brilliant minds behind this initiative are Jamie Parker and Ella Johnson, students at the College of Mount Saint Vincent. They founded the non-profit organization, A Moment of Magic, after Parker was inspired by the enchanting tale of Frozen. “I saw myself as Elsa and realized how much I adore kids, working for children’s cancer causes, and, of course, princesses,” Parker shared with Home Insemination Kit. “It was an epiphany that sparked a wonderfully magical idea.” Without hesitation, she texted her friend Ella, who eagerly joined the mission.
Using a GoFundMe campaign, they raised around $2,000 to cover the costs of Disney costumes, wigs, and supplies. A Moment of Magic has now spread its wings to 12 states with approximately 40 volunteers. For the hospitals they can’t visit in person, they connect with kids through Skype or FaceTime.
In a heartwarming video, Parker, dressed as Elsa, admits, “I still feel nervous every time I walk into a hospital. I worry I won’t be pretty enough, smart enough, or thin enough, but it’s the kids who instill confidence in me.” Cue the tears!
Busy college schedules and nerves don’t deter these inspiring women. Their motivation comes from a purpose larger than themselves. “I believe that small, simple acts can lead to significant impacts on others,” Ella told Home Insemination Kit. “This project is a perfect example of how collective small deeds can create miracles.” Parker adds, “I want to make as many dreams come true as possible because these kids deserve it.” She hopes their story inspires at least one person to perform a kind act today—be it holding the door for someone, donating clothes, or joining their cause.
Of course, every great project comes with its expenses, including hospital parking fees, transportation, and gifts for the little patients.
