In a heartwarming story, Nathan Reed, who was diagnosed with aggressive stage four cancer just weeks before his partner was set to give birth, received a remarkable surprise from the hospital staff. While undergoing treatment at the very hospital where his partner, Mia, would deliver their son, Nathan was wheeled into the delivery room to witness the birth of their baby.
On September 18th, Mia welcomed their little boy, Oliver, into the world. Knowing how much this moment meant for Nathan, the compassionate nurses at Boulder Community Hospital decided to go above and beyond. They arranged for Nathan, still recovering from multiple brain surgeries, to be present during the birth, surrounded by love and support.
With the help of the Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep organization, dedicated to capturing special moments for families, photographer Lisa Graves offered her services to document this incredible occasion. The family agreed, and the resulting photographs captured the beauty and emotion of the moment perfectly.
“It was absolutely amazing,” Lisa shared. “This family radiates love.” The stunning images were later shared on social media, quickly gaining attention and inspiring many to contribute to the family’s crowdfunding campaign to assist with medical expenses and newborn care as Nathan continues his battle against cancer.
“There was a moment during the delivery when Nathan told Mia that they were surrounded by all the love in the world,” Lisa recounted. We hope that love continues to envelop them as Nathan fights his illness. If you’re interested in more stories like this, check out our other blog post on home insemination kits for helpful insights.
