1. This Body is Mine Again
I have complete control over my body now. No one else gets to decide when or how I use my breasts. While I’m still a mom who wipes boogers on her sleeve and avoids grocery shopping unless the kids are at school, I feel liberated—well, sort of.
2. Freedom to Leave the House
I don’t venture out much since I have three kids who can be quite loud, but now I have the option to go out without planning around feedings. No more awkwardly nursing in the car or on the side of the road. I can finally arrive on time for outings!
3. No More Nursing Spot Scouting
I’ve nursed in some strange places, from busy shopping malls to the footrest of a stroller at a parade. Now, I can dash after my kids without worrying about finding a discreet spot, as my chest is appropriately secured.
4. Nighttime Feedings Can Be Shared
This is the biggest relief! With three little ones, my sleep is vital. Now, my partner can step in and handle nighttime feedings, allowing me to catch up on much-needed rest.
5. Goodbye to Nursing Bras and Layers
I’m thrilled to no longer deal with bras that have clips or the hassle of layering shirts to avoid exposing my stretch marks. Summer nursing was particularly sweaty, and now I can wear whatever I want without a second thought!
6. No More Worrying About Being Photographed
I used to dread the thought of someone snapping a photo of me while nursing and posting it online with a judgmental caption. People can be inconsiderate, and I’m glad I no longer have to think about that.
7. Medications Are Back on the Table!
I can now take whatever I need—be it DayQuil, herbal tea, or even a glass of wine without worrying about how it might affect my baby through breastfeeding. Having my body to myself means I can prioritize my health and well-being.
Now that breastfeeding is behind me, I can focus on caring for myself more regularly. My children will always be connected to me, and I know our bond remains intact. The end of breastfeeding turned out to be less daunting than I anticipated, and I’m at peace knowing my little one got everything she needed during that special time.
