It feels like just yesterday I was navigating choices regarding breast versus bottle, cloth versus disposable diapers, and the intricacies of potty training. Now, my daughter is in the seventh grade, and the challenges have escalated.
At twelve, children display a fascinating mix of behaviors. While my daughter is still enchanted by the world of Harry Potter and enjoys playing with dolls, some of her peers are already exploring dating and becoming sexually active—yes, it’s happening, whether we like to acknowledge it or not. I’m fortunate that my daughter shares many stories about her day and seeks my advice on what troubles her. I strive to address her questions honestly and thoughtfully.
Just yesterday, she shared an incident where a boy in her class snapped a girl’s bra. She asked me what she should do if that happens to her. I carefully considered my response. While I could have provided a range of answers, I chose to give her the one that would empower her in the future. However, parents of boys should be aware of the advice I imparted.
