As a parent of a single child, my partner and I often feel a little out of place among the multitudes of families with multiple kids. In the grand hierarchy of parenthood, we sometimes feel we rank lower than those with two or more children. But at least we can look down on those who don’t have any kids at all, right?
The truth is, raising one child is often a breeze. It’s quite similar to having no children—except for the fact that we do have one. Thankfully, having a single child hardly impacts our lives in any significant way.
As a stay-at-home dad, I often joke that I’m just a stay-at-home guy. I find myself lounging around the house, and at times, I even forget my child is nearby! Honestly, I cannot pinpoint his location right now, but he’s just one person—he can manage.
I often wonder why only children even need parents.

There are countless reasons to have multiple children, but just one reason not to: you’re an idle parent who can’t handle the responsibilities. (Having more than three children, however, is not advisable.)
