Spa Offers ‘Wife Daycare’ So Husbands Can Annoy Women Before Treating Them to Relaxation

Have you ever come across the concept of “wife daycare”? It seems that spas all over the country, from Florida to California, are using this term as a cheeky promotional tactic aimed at men looking to score some time away from their partners. The idea? Drop off your wife and enjoy some much-needed personal space. Hilarious, right?

A spa in Pasadena recently shared a post on their Instagram, promoting their “wife daycare” service with the tagline: “Need some #alone time or a break with your buddies? Just drop her off with your credit card, and we’ll handle the rest!” This sign hangs outside a business owned by women, who apparently have time-traveled from a bygone era to launch what they think is a brilliant venture.

But they’re not alone. A spa in Florida is also rolling out a similar package. Who exactly thought this was a good idea? It’s hard to believe that a group of marketing professionals brainstormed this, or if it was just one out-of-touch individual. It honestly feels like they’ve just stepped out of a time machine. And before anyone labels me a buzzkill (I might be, but still), it’s tough to fathom how insulting women—who are the backbone of your business—could ever be considered smart marketing.

Unfortunately, many of us are in dire need of a massage and might overlook the absurdity of this concept just to get some relaxation. Businesses, especially those owned by women, should aim higher than this. I can’t imagine any woman feeling excited about being placed in “wife daycare,” even if it involves a soothing massage, a plush robe, and refreshing cucumber water.

In short, while the idea of “wife daycare” might have a humorous ring to it, it ultimately falls flat in terms of respect and understanding for women’s needs.
