To be completely honest, I have never found joy in lawn care, gardening, or any activities that involve spending prolonged periods outdoors, engaging in physical labor. That changed recently.
As new homeowners, we now have our own yard. This sense of ownership (though technically the bank owns it) has ignited a desire within me to dig in the soil, plant flowers, and tackle those pesky weeds. I’ve even attempted to uproot some plants, only to be corrected by my neighbor, who informed me that I was discarding a flowering bush. I promptly replanted it.
Visiting home improvement stores like Home Depot and Lowe’s has been a revelation. While I enjoy DIY projects, the greenhouse section tends to overwhelm me. With an abundance of choices, I often leave empty-handed, especially when my children are crying and hungry.
However, a recent visit to a friend’s house changed my perspective. Her deck was filled with charming plants housed in mason jars, vintage coffee mugs, and quirky planters. She revealed that she sourced these adorable plants from Amazon, which delivered them right to her doorstep in just two days. This method seemed far less intimidating, and I learned that succulents are quite easy to care for. They are also budget-friendly, allowing me to experiment without risking our mortgage payments.
Amazon offers a variety of plants—20 for around $40. They are low-maintenance and delightful. If you find it overwhelming, consider sharing with a friend or neighbor. After all, fostering neighborly connections is essential. These plants are eye-catching, and I’ve noticed that people often inquire about them. My friend even gifts them, and they are always well-received. I may have taken a couple of her plants under the guise of “borrowing” but it’s safe to say they’re now part of my collection.
The best part? You can order plants from Amazon and have them delivered directly to your door without needing to leave your home or get dressed. It’s a win-win situation.
