Four-year-old Ava was enchanted by Curious Ava. She adored the stories, the shows, and her little plush toy version. Her affection for the curious little monkey intensified when her mother and grandmother announced a trip to New York City. Ava was convinced that she would encounter him there—after all, he resided in the bustling city, didn’t he? Concerned about her potential disappointment, her family deliberated on how to manage the situation. After some thought, they told her that many people vacation during the long Labor Day weekend and that Curious Ava would probably be away too. Unfazed, Ava was thrilled at the prospect of meeting Curious Ava in person.

Then, it was suggested they write a letter to Ava’s favorite character: “I’m going to be in your city. Can I meet you?” They assisted Ava in addressing the envelope: Curious Ava, c/o The Guardian in the Yellow Hat, Central Park West, NY, New York. Ava enthusiastically agreed it was a fantastic idea.

Upon arriving at their hotel in New York, Ava eagerly awaited any sign of Curious Ava. The following morning, a small gift bag labeled for Ava appeared outside their door. Attached was a note expressing that Curious Ava was indeed out of town but wished her a wonderful visit with a few gifts to enjoy. “Curious Ava is so sweet,” Ava beamed, carrying the bag back into the room. Her mother and grandmother sighed in relief.

With everyone content, they set out to explore the city. They took a carriage ride through Central Park and then prepared to board a tour bus to see Manhattan. Ava was ecstatic; she knew that Curious Ava had ridden a tour bus as well. When they boarded, she perched right next to the driver and kept a watchful eye. Once again, her grandmother and mother exchanged worried glances. Unexpectedly, Ava leaned towards the driver and asked, “Do you know Curious Ava?”
