Dear Fellow Pinterest Moms:
Let’s come together! You might have expected this to be yet another critique of Pinterest, a diatribe against crafting, or a condemnation of our efforts to create “magical” experiences for our children. But that’s not the case here.
This message is for you, my fellow Pinterest Moms, because I genuinely appreciate you. I identify with you. Yes, I admit it: I’m a Pinterest Mom, and I take pride in it. Not only do I pin ideas, I also bring them to life.
But here’s the twist: I don’t engage in these activities to impress others or to make other mothers feel inferior. In fact, I don’t even do it specifically for my kids. It’s even more delightful than that: I do it because I genuinely enjoy it.
We, the Pinterest Moms, thrive on our love for crafting, decorating, cooking, and hosting parties. We find joy in creating things simply for the fun of it.
When we share our crafts, bakes, or party ideas, it’s not meant for you, the Non-Pinterest Moms. We understand that not everyone appreciates our efforts, especially after reading countless articles that label us as “show-offs” or “trying too hard.” We recognize that you may not be interested in our posts, but that’s perfectly okay; we didn’t share those photos on Instagram for you. They were for us.
So once again, I call upon you: PINTEREST MOMS UNITE! Let’s celebrate our creativity and share our projects. We want to see what you’ve done with clothespins, how you’ve transformed twigs, or the incredible fondant cake you made. Who knows? We might just be inspired to replicate your masterpiece! It’s all about fun—pure, unadulterated fun.
We’re not trying to conjure magic. We’re not claiming to be better mothers. We’re simply crafty moms who have loved creating long before our children arrived, and we’ll continue to do so when they’re grown. We are thrilled to have little partners in our crafting, cooking, and baking adventures.
If you don’t engage in crafting or cooking with your children, that’s completely fine. We Pinterest Moms are not concerned. In fact, my own mother didn’t partake in these activities with me, and look at how I turned out—I can’t stop crafting! So, don’t worry if your children seem to be missing out; if you’re concerned, just toss some craft supplies their way, or not; twigs are always available.
It’s not a competition because we’ve never treated it as such. We’re simply enjoying our own unique forms of fun. If your family enjoys a different type of activity, like singing together on YouTube, go for it! I promise I won’t feel inadequate because of it.
Personally, I would rather endure a thousand paper cuts than engage in that!

In summary, being a Pinterest Mom is all about embracing creativity and having fun, without the need for validation from others. We craft because we love it, and we invite others to join us in this joyful pursuit.
