It’s hard to believe Melissa McCarthy didn’t make an appearance at the recent ‘Gilmore Girls’ reunion in Austin, Texas. After all, she was likely busy savoring the accolades for her latest film, Spy, which dominated the box office. However, true fans of McCarthy know that her comedic brilliance first shone brightly in the early 2000s as Sookie St. James, the lovable chef and Lorelai Gilmore’s best friend in Gilmore Girls. Show creator Amy Sherman-Palladino fought hard to cast McCarthy, and thank goodness she did! Without her, we’d miss out on some of the most hilarious moments from this already fantastic series.
