As a blogger, I don’t fancy myself a writer in the traditional sense. My blog is a reflection of my personal voice—authentic and unrefined. It’s not crafted with flowery language or literary finesse; instead, it’s a candid expression of my thoughts and experiences.
Those close to me often tease me about my expressive nature. I may not have the best singing voice, but I can’t help but infuse my words with a lot of emotion. I emphasize certain phrases, using intonation and body language, which can be quite the challenge to convey through a computer screen. Nevertheless, I strive to share my personality through my writing.
You’ll notice I frequently use italics. In casual comments, if I don’t feel like coding, I’ll use asterisks to highlight key words—starred for emphasis. My intention is often lost, as I assume readers can easily grasp what I’m conveying.
Expressions like “GAH” appear often in my posts, representing an annoyed gasp rather than surprise. It’s different from a simple “Ugh,” which conveys pure frustration. I might also write “Doh!” to signal a harmless mistake. When I want to express a sigh, I simply type “sigh,” sometimes emphasizing it for dramatic effect.
Another term I use is “woot,” a word I’ve never spoken aloud but seem to write with enthusiasm. It always comes with multiple exclamation points, akin to “YAY!!” but with extra excitement. This is what I imagine a virtual high-five would feel like.
I often find myself debating between “Yeah” and “Yay.” “Yay” is my way of cheering someone on, while “Yeah” is more about agreement. I also use “Wah!” for when I’m feeling a bit down but still want to keep a light-hearted tone. If I write “Sob,” you can be sure I mean it literally, not as an insult.
While I rarely LOL, I do use variations of laughter to convey my emotions accurately. A gentle chuckle gets a “ha!,” while a giggle becomes “hehe,” and a hearty laugh is denoted by “HAHAHA!” If something is sarcastically funny, a “snort” might escape me. Occasionally, I might even LMAO, typically under the influence of a little cheer.
In sharing all this, I hope you find a clearer understanding of my unique blog style. In summary, my blog is an honest representation of my thoughts, full of quirks and expressions that make it distinctly me. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoy writing it.
