17 Things Moms Will Always Say ‘Yes’ To

When you’re a mom, each day can feel like a marathon—the morning rush, work or childcare, and then the final sprint of dinner, bath, storytime, and bed. It can be exhausting! However, there are a few things that could ease the daily grind, if only someone would step up and offer them. Here are 17 things that moms, at least the ones in my circle, will always say “yes” to:

  1. Someone else taking charge of a decision. From the moment pregnancy starts, motherhood becomes a series of choices: hospital or home birth? Stay-at-home, daycare, or nanny? More time at the park, but takeout for dinner? If moms could hand over these decisions to a well-informed robot—who would make choices aligned with our values—we’d be thrilled.
  2. A day where all plans hinge on our needs, energy levels, hunger, and fatigue.
  3. Twenty minutes of paused time where everyone else is frozen. This would be ideal when we come home, needing to unpack lunch boxes, put away shoes, hang up coats, and start dinner. Just a brief moment to breathe and gather ourselves would be pure bliss.
  4. Someone asking, “Can I hold the baby while you…?”
  5. A person willing to quietly get up with the kids at 4:41 a.m. and bring us coffee in bed without expecting anything in return. (This might be a mythical being.)
  6. Friends who come over to spend time with us at home, making socializing easier.
  7. A thorough car cleaning. Opening my car door often means unleashing a tiny disaster zone of snack wrappers and mystery items. If only someone could take it for a proper clean!
  8. Someone offering to bring a latte.
  9. An unlimited shower. During the newborn phase, showering meant prioritizing which body parts to wash quickly before the baby cried. I long for a time where I can luxuriate in the shower without rushing.
  10. An offer to do the dishes after dinner would be treasured.
  11. And following that, a kind soul offering to brush the toddler’s teeth.
  12. A moment free from the weight of responsibilities. After dinner, I often can’t relax because I’m thinking about baths, dishes, and lunch prep. A moment where my to-do list doesn’t loom over me would be heaven.
  13. Fueling up the car, especially when the little ones are strapped in the back and there’s no pay-at-the-pump option.
  14. Alone time. Whether it’s to use the bathroom, read, tidy up, or even shop for a pair of jeans without a toddler in tow, this is priceless.
  15. Our partners taking the kids to their grandparents’ house without us.
  16. A weekend getaway with the girls. Sometimes we need to step away from being “mom” and just enjoy being “friend.”
  17. Free babysitting. This is the ultimate gift for parents. While we’re willing to splurge occasionally on a date night, the added cost of a sitter can sting.

So, if you’re ever in doubt, just remember: free babysitting is the number one thing moms will never refuse.
