Dear Parents,
It’s that time of year again! If your kids haven’t already swapped their beach towels for backpacks, they will soon. We understand the whirlwind of summer you’ve navigated, and as your child’s teacher, I want to take a moment to share a few thoughts on behalf of all of us who are gearing up to welcome your little ones back into the classroom.
First and foremost, thank you. We know how exciting it is to finally enjoy a hot cup of coffee again after two months of chaos, and we’re here to take over those conversations about appropriate school attire. Trust me, we’ll handle the “keep your pants on” discussions so you can focus on tackling that endless to-do list that has likely grown exponentially since June.
We also recognize that you might be reaching the end of your patience with little Susie, especially if she’s taken to using the cat as her latest art project. Fear not, we’re prepared to remind her that number two pencils belong on paper, not in her ears, allowing you to reclaim some peace at home. Wouldn’t it be fantastic if those lessons stuck and you didn’t have to remove gum from the carpet anymore? A parent can dream!
Now that the children can interact with teachers who will listen and respond, we’re ready to patiently repeat instructions while you enjoy adult conversations without the impending dread of cleaning up after a parade of toys. We know that if you have to remind Janie one more time to keep her shoes off the kitchen table, you might just consider relocating to a tropical paradise. But remember, your family would miss you—and let’s be honest, who would cook dinner?
Most importantly, we empathize with the love and frustration you feel. While you adore your children, we know you’ve contemplated various creative escape plans to survive the long summer months. We share your struggle, and we’re prepared to handle the delightful chaos that these kids bring into our lives. Hold onto those feelings of desperation; when we send them back to you in June, it’ll be your turn to write a note to us!
Just remember, when that time comes, postmark it to Fiji!
Warm regards,
Your Teachers
