If you’ve been eagerly waiting for The Nanny to hit a streaming service, your patience is about to pay off! Fran Fine is heading from Flushing, Queens, straight to HBO Max, bringing joy to every thirty-something millennial. Yes, you heard it right! Fran, Mr. Sheffield, Niles the butler, Cece Babcock, Sylvia, and the Sheffield kids will all be available for binge-watching starting April 1.

Just a quick reminder (not that you need one!), The Nanny aired from 1993 to 1999. Fran Drescher starred as the stylish bridal saleswoman turned accidental nanny, who brought her humor and charm to the Sheffield household after the kids lost their mother. The slow-building romance between Fran and her boss was an absolute delight, and the ensemble cast, including Niles and the Sheffield children, made the show a joy to watch.

Queen Fran Drescher herself shared the exciting news on Instagram, and honestly, can we take a moment to appreciate her radiance? “We coming to HBOMAX WooHoo!!! 4/1/21 GO!” she wrote.

Drescher has previously mentioned to E! News that she believes Fran and Max, who ended up together after years of tension, would still be happily married today. She imagines Fran might be blogging about fashion or even dabbling in local politics, always advocating for the underdog.

In addition, Drescher is working on adapting The Nanny into a Broadway musical, collaborating with her ex-husband and co-creator Peter Marc Jacobson and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend creator Rachel Bloom. What a fantastic way to welcome audiences back to theaters! The concept involves Fran and Max returning to New York so Max can produce a Broadway show about their lives.

This nostalgic series is the perfect remedy for a challenging year, and we can’t wait to see it come to life on stage. But for now, let’s celebrate the streaming release of the original show.

As the theme song says, “Who would have guessed that the girl we described was just exactly what the doctor prescribed?”
