The series, titled “Heart of Invictus,” will showcase competitors as they gear up for the Invictus Games in The Hague, set to take place in 2022. Netflix shared in a tweet, “Prince Harry has been a champion of the Invictus Games since its inception, so it’s fitting that Archewell’s first Netflix series will spotlight and celebrate the competition’s amazing athletes.”
For those unfamiliar, the Invictus Games is an international multi-sport competition for service members who have overcome serious injuries or illnesses. Prince Harry played a pivotal role in launching the Games in 2014, which were inspired by the Warrior Games he attended in 2013.
Harry expressed his excitement about the project, stating, “Since the very first Invictus Games back in 2014, we knew that each competitor would contribute in their own exceptional way to a mosaic of resilience, determination, and resolve. This series will give communities around the world a window into the moving and uplifting stories of these competitors on their path to the Netherlands next year.”
Despite the postponement of the Games, Harry has remained optimistic, participating in a powerful message of resilience aimed at the competitors. He also confirmed that he would appear in the series, emphasizing that he will not profit from it. Instead, he plans to donate any compensation received to the Invictus Games Foundation. “As part of the agreement, the Duke and Archewell Productions are redirecting compensation they would otherwise receive for this project to The Invictus Games Foundation,” a spokesperson revealed.
It’s clear that Harry is deeply committed to raising awareness for a cause he values, and many Netflix viewers will likely join him in this journey. Expect the series to premiere next spring.
