Dear Friends and Family,

cute baby big eyeslow cost IUI

As we approach the holiday season, I wanted to take a moment to share a few thoughts from our household. While I sit here, my kids are busy with their own adventures—young Jamie is engrossed in his latest book series, Alex is practicing piano like there’s no tomorrow, and little Sam is busy constructing a cardboard car that runs on imagination.

Just kidding.

In the spirit of 2020, I want you all to know we’re hanging in there, which, given this year, is practically thriving. I hope you’re managing to thrive as well. Remember that one parent who claimed their kids were “thriving” during remote learning? Yeah, I remember too. I actually printed that post out so I could use it for target practice—it’s become my quirky form of meditation. And as for my professional life, let’s just say I’ve traded my agent for the role of at-home learning facilitator.

Initially, I was overwhelmed, worried that my children would miss out on the experiences I cherished in early grades. But then I realized, maybe it’s not such a bad thing to skip the emotional scars of first, second, and third grade. So, here we are.

Is it the same experience? Not quite. I have to admit, I enjoy Zoom PTA meetings—there’s something oddly satisfying about being able to turn off my camera and give a well-deserved gesture to Shelly without her knowing. Apologies for my Instagram being a bit quiet lately; my kids have been creating extensive battle scenes and have completely turned our backyard into a dig site. Think of it as our version of “Escape from Alcatraz.”

In other news, Mark got promoted this year and is now supervising a team of seven. He seems to really enjoy it, which is a relief. It made me realize that no matter how hard I try, I’ll never be the one bringing home the bacon, but hey, that’s life. I was writing grants for local charities, but sadly, many of those organizations are struggling to survive. So, I might just be burning my Hamilton tickets tonight to keep warm.

And just a heads up—if you send me a holiday letter boasting about your fabulous trip to Fiji or a picture-perfect family portrait, I’ll show up at your doorstep ready to cause some chaos. But seriously, send me wine and some good vibes, please.

Wishing you all a joyful holiday season filled with love and laughter! Just kidding. If you want to reach me, my new address is: 45 Let It Go Lane, I’m Over It, NM 45673.

See you on the flip side!

Best,
Lila
