As we approach Election Day, the ‘Wall of Deception’ in Manhattan has returned, now even more expansive. This mural, showcasing over 20,000 inaccuracies attributed to President Donald Trump, was reinstated in SoHo after being vandalized in Brooklyn earlier this month. The new version now stretches an impressive 100 feet, double its original size.

Initially displayed outside the independent Radio Free Brooklyn in Bushwick, the mural encapsulates all of Trump’s misleading statements since 2016, carefully documented and verified by The Washington Post. Since its launch on October 3, it has attracted numerous visitors, including local leaders like Senator Alex Thompson, who came to see it just a day after it was unveiled.

Unfortunately, the mural faced vandalism shortly after its debut, with pro-Trump and white supremacist messages such as “Vote Trump or die” and “Stand Back and Stand By” — a phrase Trump used during a debate and later adopted by extremist groups. The artwork lasted only four or five days before being tagged.

Following a successful GoFundMe campaign that raised over $4,000, Radio Free Brooklyn has rebuilt the ‘Wall of Deception’ in lower Manhattan. “While it’s disheartening to see this retaliation against truth, the impact of the wall can never be erased,” stated Radio Free Brooklyn’s Executive Director, Mark Johnson, on their GoFundMe page. “Spray paint cannot silence our message.”

In addition to the physical mural, Radio Free Brooklyn has launched a digital version on their website, allowing viewers to interact with the wall by panning, scrolling, and zooming in to explore specific sections. “At first glance, it may seem chaotic — perhaps a fitting metaphor for this presidency,” artist Jake Lee remarked prior to the unveiling. “But as you get closer, you can discern the individual lies, organized chronologically and color-coded by categories such as healthcare, immigration, the environment, and jobs. Stepping back reveals patterns in Trump’s fabrications.”

Originally, Radio Free Brooklyn had planned a continuous on-air reading of Trump’s lies in the week leading up to Election Day. However, due to remote operations during the pandemic, they opted for this impactful visual representation instead. “In a time filled with misinformation, it’s crucial to utilize our platform to highlight these falsehoods in a visually striking manner,” Johnson added.
