- “Are all these kids yours?” Nope. Just the six I’ve claimed. The rest? No idea who they belong to.
- “With the same partner?” Absolutely! He’s a total catch. I might even have a cheeky picture of him on my phone. Care to see?
- “Don’t you know how that happens?” Of course! My attractive partner and I are very well aware of the birds and the bees. It’s a bit odd you’d question my grasp on basic biology.
- “Are you Catholic?” We are, and we embrace it wholeheartedly. Especially the part where we’re encouraged to expand our family. Is swearing a sin? We might need to work on that.
- “Have you thought about birth control?” Sure have! And now I’m wishing someone had taught you about manners instead.
- “Are you always in the mood?” Right now? Talking to you? Not a chance.
- “How will you afford college?” We’re thinking of selling a kidney from each kid who wants to attend—two if they’re aiming for an Ivy League school. Interested?
- “Do you have a favorite child?” Definitely! It’s whoever is behaving the least like a brat at the moment.
- “Are you planning on having more kids?” More intimate moments with my charming partner? Yes, indeed! Would you like to see that photo?
- “Do you drive a bus?” No, but if I did, I’d take it right up your nose. Just kidding! We’re not a traveling circus, but we do have friends over often, making it feel like we need a bus. For now, we just strap the extra kids to the roof of our Suburban, like we do with our Christmas tree. They’re perfectly fine.
Bonus question: “Isn’t your home always chaotic?” Yes, but it was chaotic even before the kids. Mostly because I was recovering from a hangover. Now it’s just the result of living with six energetic tornadoes. “Clean” is subjective—please ignore the state of the walls; the kids’ clothes are clean, I promise!
We’re not a spectacle; we’re a big family filled with kind-hearted, curious, and spirited kids who make our world (and theirs) a brighter place. Feel free to ask questions, but please, spare us the rudeness.
