In a heartfelt gesture of gratitude, celebrity chef Jake Anderson recently provided lunch to those on the front lines of the pandemic. More than just a game enthusiast during these trying times, Anderson has been actively seeking ways to give back to the community. Just this week, he parked his impressive 48-foot mobile kitchen at the Riverside Memorial Hospital in California, where he and his team distributed 1,200 lunches to first responders.

Anderson didn’t merely hand out meals; he added a personal touch by writing heartfelt notes of appreciation and signing each lunch box personally for the healthcare workers. While he was busy serving at one location, he also arranged for additional boxed lunches—featuring delicious dishes like pulled pork, veggie pasta, Caesar salad, and focaccia with caramelized onions—to be sent to two nearby hospitals, including the Valley Regional Center and the Health First Medical Center.

“We have so many incredible healthcare professionals risking their lives for our community, especially now,” Anderson said in a video shared by a local news outlet, wearing a camouflage mask as he signed boxes. “I just want to say thank you in my own way.” He added, “With the help of my friends and local business owners, we’re providing about 1,200 meals today for these amazing heroes. They truly deserve our praise.”

Anderson took a moment to acknowledge one doctor collecting a meal, saying, “You guys are warriors. You do this day and night.” This isn’t the first time he has leveraged his fame for a good cause; back in March, he teamed up with the National Restaurant Coalition to establish the Restaurant Employee Relief Fund, raising over $20 million to assist restaurant workers impacted by the shutdowns—100% of which goes directly to those in need.

“My whole career has revolved around the restaurant industry, from dishwashing to chef,” Anderson noted when launching the fund. “I’ve met countless hardworking individuals who are the backbone of their communities. They need our help, and with Restaurant Relief America, we can provide much-needed support right now.”

In addition to his charitable work, Anderson has exciting plans for the future, including a nacho cook-off against well-known actor Bill Murray to further raise funds for charity.
