I almost named my two new pups Sam and Diane, but after a vote, we settled on different names. The boy is a big, lovable goofball with a wagging tail and a knack for chasing after balls. He might not be the brightest, but he definitely has charm, much like a certain famous former baseball player named Malone. On the other hand, our girl pup is an anxious beauty, full of quirks. She’s smart and stunning, yet she really needs to learn to chill out. And guess what? She adores Pete—the name we ultimately chose for the boy, but that’s a tale for another time—even if he sometimes leads her astray.

So, you can imagine my excitement when I discovered that Cheers is making its way to Broadway in 2016 under the title Cheers Live on Stage. According to Rolling Stone, CBS is not only adapting our favorite bar and its colorful characters for the theater but is also working on reviving other iconic shows for live performances.

The Brady Bunch

Most of us grew up watching this legendary show in reruns after school. Greg, Bobby, Peter, Marcia, Jan, and Cindy became our surrogate siblings. This nostalgia is what drew audiences to The Brady Bunch Movie in 1995, which starred a familiar face from Cheers, Shelley Long, as the beloved Carol Brady. Now, CBS is bringing this cult classic to the stage, although details are still emerging, so stay tuned for updates.

Corduroy

Who doesn’t remember reading the classic 1968 children’s book by Don Freeman about a teddy bear in a bustling department store with a missing button? It’s a story that many parents have cherished sharing with their kids. The heartwarming ending, where a little girl embraces Corduroy’s imperfections, has inspired countless readers and even spawned an animated series on PBS. CBS is set to adapt this timeless tale for Broadway, and I can already picture the long lines of parents and excited children at the box office.

But there’s even more! CBS is joining the trend of reviving beloved shows from the ’80s and ’90s, which are also making a comeback on our screens.

Fuller House

I’ll admit, I didn’t watch Full House when it first aired—I was too busy with college life. But karma has a way of coming full circle; my kids have uncovered the magic of DVR, and now our family room is filled with the Tanners daily. Now, my girls are thrilled to hear that Netflix is rebooting this family favorite with Fuller House, set to feature many original cast members like John Stamos, Candace Cameron Bure, and Jodie Sweetin. The new storyline revolves around D.J., who is now a veterinarian in San Francisco facing life as a single mom after her husband’s unexpected passing. The Olsen twins have opted out of reprising their role, focusing instead on their successful fashion endeavors—something they announced in a joint statement.

Girl Meets World

The original Boy Meets World ran from 1993 to 2000 and followed Cory Matthews through his teenage years into adulthood. Many of us grew up alongside him, so it was a delight to see the character resurrected in Girl Meets World, which premiered in 2014. This new series focuses on Cory’s daughter, Riley, making it a perfect fit for a new generation.

The X-Files

Yesterday, Gillian Anderson shared a photo of Scully and Mulder’s chairs on set, igniting excitement among long-time fans like myself. Series creator Chris Carter is reuniting Anderson and David Duchovny for a six-episode arc, coming back to Fox at an undisclosed date. The groundbreaking series, which aired from 1993 to 2002, reshaped television with its exploration of alien abduction and deep-seated fears, paving the way for other fantasy shows like AMC’s The Walking Dead and FX’s American Horror Story. We can’t wait to uncover whether “the truth is out there” once again.
