20 Amusing Tweets About Millennials

Contrary to popular belief, being a millennial isn’t synonymous with being lazy, entitled, or overly fixated on social media. (Though it can certainly feel annoying to be pigeonholed into those stereotypes.) The U.S. Census Bureau defines millennials as individuals born between 1982 and 2000, meaning if you fall within the 18 to 36 age range, you’re part of this much-maligned generation.

Millennials tend to delay marriage and parenthood, and they are less inclined to buy cars or homes. But let’s be real: our tech-savvy generation is anything but lazy and entitled. And the witty millennials on Twitter are a perfect example of this.

I wish I had the same passion for something as baby boomers have for critiquing millennials. It’s amusing because it often seems like it’s the older generation lacking chill. In reality, millennials are generally more compassionate and understanding.

Let’s address the facts: Baby boomers are quick to assert we’re ruining the economy, yet they conveniently forget to mention they don’t pay us a living wage. They also lament our reluctance to invest in real estate—real estate that is far out of our financial reach.

Interestingly, people often criticize our preference for political correctness, but we’re just trying to be decent human beings. And let’s not forget the judgment we face for our selfies, as if narcissism didn’t exist before 1982.

Some may think we’re out of our minds for advocating universal healthcare. And yes, our love for food is undeniable—who doesn’t enjoy a good meal? We thoroughly enjoy brunch, avocado toast, and all the deliciousness that comes with it.

We know our brand, so please don’t be upset because you don’t understand our lingo. We’re not mad; we just recognize the reality of our situation. However, can we please stop being blamed for the messes made long before our arrival?

There you have it—millennials face a lot of unwarranted criticism from older generations. Remember, we didn’t put carpet over hardwood floors or vote for candidates who don’t have our best interests at heart.
