Dear Spouse, Regarding the Chaos…

This morning started off early, and you quickly noticed the disarray in our home. Allow me to explain the situation and our day:

The Pile of Wet Towels:

Since the landing is adjacent to the laundry room, that’s where they ended up. The kids decided to share a bed last night, which led to our oldest having an accident. Our youngest, unfortunately, woke up in a puddle. It was quite the comical scene, so instead of stressing over it, we focused on comforting them. I can relate, as I often find my side of the bed in a similar state.

The Sticky Tabletop:

With all the articles promoting healthy eating—“No artificial colors! No gluten! Go organic!”—we’re left with mostly fruits and veggies. I offered the girls peaches, and it turned into a complete disaster. The mess was everywhere. At one point, our oldest was beneath the table, having a meltdown over peach ownership, while the youngest attempted to share the core with the baby. It was quite the scene, but rest assured, the little one is fine.

The Bathroom Floor:

Let’s not dwell on it. Just trust me when I say we did our best—it could have been much worse!

The Backyard:

You might not have realized yet, but our entire set of silverware has ended up outside. I know it’s dark and time for dinner (another story for later), but my plan for finger foods was thwarted by the kitchen chaos.

The Kitchen:

While I was putting the baby down for a nap, the girls tried to assist with the dishes, and a few cups didn’t survive the process. As for dinner, they decided to turn the pantry upside down by removing all the labels from cans and shredding the loaf of bread. So, pizza is on its way.

Despite the devastation—a house filled with crumbs, damp towels in the bathroom, pee-stained laundry at the entryway, broken glass in the trash, and a plethora of mystery meals for the upcoming weeks—there was an abundance of love today. The girls shared a bed, one sister tried to help her baby sibling, and we navigated potty training alongside an emotional peach-related crisis. We truly came together.

I know you might not appreciate excuses, but please forgive the chaos; we were busy creating memories. For more insights on parenting and home insemination, check out this post on our blog. If you’re curious about the process of pregnancy, you might find this excellent resource helpful as well.

Summary:

In the midst of a chaotic day, a humorous recount of the messes made by children highlights the love and bonding moments that took place. From wet blankets and sticky tables to an adventurous kitchen, the day was filled with laughter and memories despite the disarray.
