20 Hilarious Tweets for Those Who Can’t Stand People

In life, there are two types of folks: those who openly admit to having a disdain for humanity and those who are just pretending not to feel that way. We’ve all hit those moments where the foolishness of others drives us to consider a hermit lifestyle, far from society’s absurdities.

I’m all about online shopping to dodge crowds. I’d rather use a drive-thru than step inside a store, minimizing human interaction as much as possible. Taking my kids to playdates gives me anxiety—not just because of the germs lurking around, but because, well, people. (And let’s be honest, who wants to put on real pants?)

Fortunately, the witty minds of Twitter get this people-hating sentiment better than anyone else.

Let’s start with the most fundamental principle of our disdain for others:

  • We’ve accepted our icy demeanor and come to terms with it.
  • We only agree to social plans once we’ve confirmed the exact number of attendees.
  • We collectively cringe at homemade videos.
  • Swimming in public? No thank you.

As much as we might dislike humans, our love for dogs is unwavering.

We’re also big fans of online shopping and technology in general.

To be fair, many of us don’t have the highest opinion of ourselves, but we can’t deny that others can be worse.

  • Creepy messages? The worst.
  • People who can’t figure out how to place an order? Infuriating.
  • I sometimes find my own family unbearable.
  • Not my partner, of course… okay, maybe sometimes.
  • My kids? Yeah, they can be a handful too.
  • My friends? They have their moments as well.

Maybe it’s my anxiety, my funk, my exhaustion… who knows? But while I’m not the ideal human being, others can certainly be more irritating.

Thankfully, we live in an era where texting replaces phone calls, providing countless ways to sidestep face-to-face encounters. Yet, the rise of social media has birthed a new level of frustration with humanity. The anonymity of the online world combined with current societal issues has intensified my dislike for people. At least dogs continue to be awesome.
