Once in the hotel room, she described how he closed the curtains and went into the bathroom to undress. Minutes later, he emerged naked and laid down next to her. “I was still dressed, pretending to be asleep, but he said, ‘You’re not going to sleep on me now, sweetie,’ as he forcefully rubbed against my still body. After he was done, he ominously suggested we should be ‘careful’ about discussing the incident,” she recalled. “I was merely 12; he was an adult.”
Following the incident, Duvall confided in her parents, a couple of adult friends, and her older brother, but found that no one was prepared to confront the uncomfortable truth at that time. “When I told my parents and friends, it felt like no one wanted to address this disturbing topic, and I wasn’t ready either.”
Recently, she encountered a photo of Thompson embracing a young girl, which haunted her thoughts. “That image has weighed heavily on my mind, and I can no longer remain silent about what happened,” she explained. Inspired by the courage of others sharing their stories, Duvall felt empowered to speak out.
“I hope that by sharing my experience, I can help other victims and contribute to preventing future abuse,” she expressed.
