My dear Ethan,
As you approach your 15th birthday, I know you have countless questions about life and growing up. Please remember, you can always come to me with anything on your mind, and I will respond with honesty. No matter what, you will always hold a special place in my heart, and I will always be here to support you.
Sometimes I feel like I underestimate your resourcefulness. Earlier today, I ventured into your room hoping to tidy up a bit, thinking a single bag would suffice for the mountain of empty water bottles scattered about. Oh, how wrong I was!
Your talent for consuming water and stashing away those bottles is truly something to behold. It makes me wonder if you’re secretly planning to construct a raft and navigate the neighborhood waterways in search of better hydration options.
I’m also fascinated by your knack for placing items next to their intended storage rather than actually putting them away. I’ve invested in all sorts of organizational tools to make it easier for you to grab what you need, especially when you’re rushing out the door for school. How often have you asked for that favorite comic book shirt or struggled to find a matching sock? Too many times, I assure you.
And yet, we find clothes piled high in places they don’t belong. Oh, my precious one, this is why some creatures eat their young! Not that I’d go that far; I’m mostly just surrounded by your water bottles, which wouldn’t offer much sustenance anyway.
Then there’s that rule about no sugary drinks in your room to avoid attracting ants. I know it exists, but I can’t help but wonder if you’re saving the remnants for some future purpose. Do you plan to pour the bottled water into something else? The mysteries of your thought process elude me.
Perhaps we should dedicate a weekend to decluttering some of your childhood treasures. Yes, it’s hard to accept that my little boy is growing up and starting to look like a young man, but you’ve outgrown that old toy guitar and the playschool art supplies crammed in the corner.
On a brighter note, I appreciate that you’ve kept the little anime drawing I made for you. That truly warms my heart.
You are my pride and joy. I love you dearly, even if your messy habits might be the end of me someday. Being your mom is a joy, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
Just a quick note: I may soon replace your mattress with all those empty water bottles. And please, for the love of all that is good, stop using the nice towels!
With all my love,
Mom
