When it comes to parenting, I steer clear of outdated gender roles or preconceived notions about parenting styles. It’s 2023! The division of parenting tasks is a collaborative effort in my household, with both partners contributing equally. However, there are definitely aspects where my partner excels beyond my capabilities, and they aren’t based on gender.
Here are five reasons my partner outshines me in the parenting department:

Her Body is a Marvel
Let’s just say her biological capabilities are miles ahead of mine. While I’m more like an unfinished construction site, my partner’s body is designed for nurturing. If I attempted to carry a baby, it wouldn’t fare well. She wins this one hands down! -
A Keen Eye for Messes
My partner has an impressive ability to spot messes before they become disasters. She can foresee the impending chaos of a spaghetti meal and expertly place coasters or paper towels to mitigate the mess. Living with her is like having a psychic who also happens to be a cleaning expert. She somehow manages to keep our home in check while I’m still trying to find my socks! -
Snuggling Champion
It’s clear that my child adores snuggling with her. Whether it’s on the couch, in bed, or even at the dinner table, he gravitates toward her for comfort. When I attempt to join in, he often shuns me. I guess my cuddling skills need some serious work! -
Master of Multitasking
My partner can seamlessly juggle cooking dinner, admiring my child’s artistic endeavors, and planning family vacations—all while reminding me to help out more. It’s truly remarkable how she can handle multiple tasks without breaking a sweat, while I often struggle to focus on just one. -
Patience of a Saint
She maintains her composure with our little one far longer than I do. While I might raise my voice in frustration, she remains calm and collected. Of course, when her patience runs out, it’s a sight to behold! But those moments are rare, and when they do occur, they’re usually justified.
Neither of us is perfect, but my partner is truly excelling in this parenting journey. She doesn’t have to deal with someone like me, who often highlights her incredible skills, so I’m doing alright considering the circumstances!
