When it comes to job applications, a response is often a long shot—especially when you’re aiming for a tech giant like Google. However, one determined little girl received a charming reply just days after reaching out. And yes, she’s only seven years old.

In Hereford, England, young Sarah Campbell was inspired by a conversation with her father about his career, which led her to take the initiative and apply for a position at Google. In her heartfelt letter to the “Google boss,” she expressed her aspirations, which included dreams of working in a candy factory and competing in the Olympics.

Sarah highlighted the fun aspects of Google’s work environment, mentioning the bean bag chairs, slides, and go-karts that are famous at the tech company. She shared a bit about her family, including her younger brother, and confidently stated, “My teachers say I’m great at reading, writing, and math.” You go, girl!

In her letter, she also mentioned that this was only her second letter ever, the first being addressed to Santa Claus. This delightful touch is a reminder of her age. According to reports, Sarah’s father, Mark, noted that they have no connections to Google and had never visited California. However, Sarah sent her letter off with hope.

And hope paid off! Just a few days later, she received a personal letter from Google CEO, Tom Jacobs. Mark shared the response on social media, where Jacobs thanked Sarah for her letter and expressed his joy that she enjoys computers and robots. He encouraged her to keep learning and reassured her that with hard work and persistence, she could achieve her dreams—whether that’s working at Google or swimming in the Olympics.

This inspiring exchange started when Sarah asked her dad about his job, leading to a discussion about the allure of Silicon Valley and Google. “I mentioned how cool it would be to work there, and she asked why,” Mark explained. “So I showed her pictures of their offices and the amazing things they do.”

Recently, Sarah even got a chance to tour Google’s London office, a remarkable experience for a child her age. Mark reflected on the incredible journey this has been for their family, saying, “I don’t think any of us can comprehend how big this is. I just hope it keeps going!”

For parents with kids who have ambitious dreams, Mark advises to allow them the freedom to be children while nurturing their aspirations. “If they express ambitions, encourage and support them. After all, who knows what could happen if someone doesn’t chase their dreams?”

So if you have a little one with big ideas about working for a major company or pursuing a passion, let them reach out. As Sarah Campbell discovered, taking that first step can lead to unexpected and wonderful opportunities.
