Hey there, kiddos!

As your friendly neighborhood doctor, I have a few lessons to impart about life, starting with how to avoid being a nuisance. This encompasses sharing, showing kindness, working diligently, and a host of other important traits. However, judging by the current state of our home, it seems I’ve overlooked a crucial lesson that falls under the “don’t be a nuisance” category. So, let’s talk about this: please, for the love of all that is sacred, return your belongings to their rightful places.

Where Your Things Should Go

If you’re in need of some guidance, here’s a breakdown of where your things should go. All that clutter scattered around the house? Believe it or not, there are designated spots for everything. (I know, shocking.)

The Trash Can

I’m tired of finding empty snack wrappers tucked in the couch cushions. Our living room looks like a snack factory exploded! Those string cheese wrappers — and sometimes the string cheese itself, half-eaten and left to mummify — are taking over your rooms. Juice boxes, tape rolls, paper scraps, and other treasures you drag in from outside belong in that rectangular container we call “the trash.”

The Dishwasher

You might think that leaving your dirty dishes lying around magically makes them vanish and reappear clean. Spoiler alert: that’s not how it works. The magical force behind your clean dishes is me, and I’m getting quite fed up with collecting your crusty bowls and forgotten spoons. There’s a simple solution: the dishwasher! Just open the door, slide out the rack, place your dish inside, and close it. I know you can manage that because I’ve seen you conquer complex video games.

The Hamper

You may not appreciate my choice of home decor, but those bins in every room aren’t just for show. They’re functional! Your dirty clothes should go in those hampers, not strewn across the bathroom floor or left in a path between the shower and your bedroom.

The Closet

I understand that sometimes you need your shoes in a hurry when a friend drops by, but it takes just seconds to return them to their proper place. This small effort could save you valuable time you spend searching for them later!

The Toy Box

You know how grocery stores keep things organized on shelves? That’s because a jumbled mess is chaotic, just like your room when you don’t return toys to their designated spot. Remember that box you have specifically for your toys? What’s it called? That’s right, the toy box!

The Toilet

Let’s discuss where your bodily functions belong. There’s a toilet bowl, with water in it. Please aim there. And about those boogers: they don’t belong on walls, your mattress, or your fingers. That’s why I keep our house stocked with tissues!

By reminding you where everything should go, I hope to achieve a tidier home—at least one that doesn’t make me weep for the lack of a housekeeper who isn’t me. You can help with this, right? Because remember, not being a nuisance starts with treating your mother with respect.

To summarize, it’s important to put your things where they belong in order to keep our home organized and pleasant. Let’s work together to make our living space a better place!
