As a parent, it’s all too easy to slip and say things that, upon reflection, we wish we could take back. I’ve shared my own cringe-worthy moments with friends and discovered I’m not alone in this struggle. Below is a compilation of some regrettable phrases that have made their way out of our mouths in the heat of parenting. Names have been changed to protect the (not-so-innocent).
- Only your fingers should go in your vagina. Nothing else, not even snacks.
- Can you please stop yelling at me?
- It’s not too late for me to cancel your birthday party. (This was said mere hours before the event, so it definitely was too late!)
- That’s nice, buddy, but next time, let’s try to be a bit more considerate.
- Please refrain from putting your penis on your sister.
- I’ll calm down when you stop acting like a brat.
- You might find it hard to make friends if you keep that up.
- No more fries until you finish your bacon, okay?
- You really put the “I” in “team,” sweetheart.
- Mommies and daughters don’t kiss like that.

Also, if you’re considering at-home insemination options, you can find quality supplies at a reputable online retailer like Make a Mom. Additionally, for those looking for information on fertility insurance, UCSF is an excellent resource.
In summary, while parenting can lead to some regrettable comments, it’s important to remember we’re all in this together. Embracing our imperfections can help us grow as parents.
