I’ve seen “Frozen” more times than I can count—probably more than any movie in my entire life, and having a young daughter is a huge reason for that. After countless viewings, my mind has wandered into some interesting thoughts. Here they are:
#1 – It’s Hard to Believe Some Parents Haven’t Seen It
It’s astonishing to me that there are parents out there with kids under ten who haven’t watched “Frozen” yet. How is that even possible? It’s a box office giant! Are these folks living under a rock or are they just incredibly wise to avoid the overwhelming obsession that comes with the movie? Either way, they seem to be living their best life.
#2 – Elsa’s Powers are a Mystery
We know superheroes’ origins—like how Spider-Man got his abilities. But what about Elsa? How did she come to possess such incredible ice powers? Was she born with them? Was there some bizarre lab experiment involved? I want a prequel to explore her backstory. And why didn’t Anna inherit any powers? So many questions!
#3 – Missed Details
After watching “Frozen” countless times, it took me several viewings to realize that their parents had a shipwreck. How did I miss that? It’s a quick moment, but it left me wondering where the parents were all along. At first, I thought the sisters were just living the Max & Ruby life!
#4 – Parenting Choices
I’m not a fan of the dad’s approach to handling Elsa’s uniqueness. Instead of encouraging her, he decides to isolate her. Wouldn’t it have been better to say, “You’re different, and that’s fantastic! Show the world your magic!” I think instilling confidence in kids who feel out of place sends a powerful message.
#5 – Predicting the Romance
During my first viewing, I immediately saw through the “love at first sight” plot with Anna and Hans. While watching the “Love Is An Open Door” song, I turned to my wife and said, “This isn’t going to end well.” Turns out, I was right—maybe I should consider a career in fortune-telling!
#6 – Enough with the ‘Brozen’ Moniker
I keep seeing guys trying to label themselves as “Brozen” for enjoying “Frozen.” It feels unnecessary and silly. Why can’t we just be dads who enjoy a great film with our kids? Labels like these are just another way to undermine the fact that men can appreciate this movie too.
#7 – Merida vs. the Frozen Sisters
If I had to choose an animated character for my daughters to befriend, I’d pick Merida from “Brave.” She’s fierce, adventurous, and embodies what I’d want my daughters to be. While Anna and Elsa are great, Merida has that special spark.
#8 – Olaf is the MVP
Can we talk about how Olaf steals every scene? His lines are hilarious, and he adds a lightheartedness that makes the movie even more enjoyable. I think he deserved an Oscar nomination!
#9 – The Scary Snowman
The giant snowman creature scared my daughter senseless! Now, I have to skip that scene when we watch together. Living in a warm climate has its perks, but it makes me worry about her first encounter with real snow after seeing that scene!
#10 – Sisterly Love
The ending, with the sisterly bond, always gets me. My girls are young, and they adore each other right now. I hope they maintain that love as they grow. “Frozen” has its flaws, but its message about sisterhood is powerful.
In conclusion, while “Frozen” might not be my all-time favorite animated movie—hello, “Wreck-It Ralph”—it’s a classic that will resonate for generations. I can only imagine my future grandchildren asking to watch it. And if they suggest building a snowman, I hope it doesn’t lead to a “Frozen” marathon!
