Hey there, older sisters! It’s time to acknowledge something important: your little sisters absolutely adore you. We watched in awe as you got ready for nights out, hung with your friends, tried on makeup, and learned how to drive. We noticed the music you loved, the prom dresses you circled in magazines, and the latest fitness craze you were into. You were the one sneaking kisses with your crush while we were supposed to be your little babysitters, and let’s be honest, you were the prettiest girl we ever laid eyes on!
We also heard all the compliments flowing your way from family friends: “Look at her! So gorgeous!” “Another honor roll? You must be so proud!” Meanwhile, we were just a few steps behind, navigating our awkward middle school years—those delightful phases of long limbs, metal braces, and a serious case of the awkward shuffles. Some of us were in high school, trying to figure out who we were, and others were in elementary school, dreaming of the day we’d be as cool as you.
We did our best to emulate you, but let’s face it—we were never going to be you. Your smarts, your style, your undeniable charisma—those were all yours. So, we little sisters carved our own paths. Some of us became creative geniuses, others turned into athletes, and most of us learned to be a bit more carefree and laid-back.
As you were stepping into adulthood—getting married, having kids, and juggling responsibilities—we were living a little wild. We wrapped up high school and dove into college, relishing the freedom of youth. While you changed diapers at 3 a.m., we were rolling into family gatherings with a slight hangover, clutching a Tylenol from the night before. It was like we were living your past, but it felt like a different era to you. And oh boy, did we make fantastic aunts! We took your kids on fun zoo trips, hosted movie nights, and showered them with gifts galore. And when the day was done, we loved handing them back to you and getting a well-deserved rest!
Eventually, we entered adulthood too. We landed jobs, got engaged, and began the whirlwind of weddings, babies, and mortgages. And guess what? You were there every step of the way! You were our trusted guides. You’d already navigated this territory, so your wisdom was invaluable. You were the super-aunt who knew how to soothe babies and handle messes like a pro. While we were exhausted, you whipped up meals and cleaned the house—all while managing to hold a baby!
Throughout our lives, as we admired you from afar, you were busy loving us. You cheered us on, celebrated our wins, consoled us through tough times, and bragged about us to your friends. You always believed in us and patiently waited for us to find our way. And guess what? We did, and we owe a huge part of it to you, our amazing big sisters.
From all the little sisters out there—the wild ones, the creative souls, and the quirky ladies—we love you! Thank you for paving the way for us.
