My 7-year-old son wears his geek badge with pride. While nerd culture is trendy now, I believe he would embrace his interests regardless of the era. Here are 11 delightful indicators of his undeniable geekiness:
- He’s quick to correct anyone who mistakenly calls the creature “Frankenstein.” It’s Dr. Frankenstein, and that green fellow is his monster, thank you very much!
- Recently, he told a friend’s dad, “I’m not great at sports, but I excel at archery.” Talk about a unique skill set!
- His fashion sense is on point, often featuring a comic book character T-shirt paired with a Newsies hat and a dapper tie. (Spoiler: All his T-shirts are comic-related.)
- Despite his small stature, he proudly claims to be the only hobbit in his class.
- He has high standards for superhero films: “If they do make an Aquaman movie, it better be done right!”
- He named the neighborhood stray cat “Crookshanks,” after Hermione Granger’s feline companion in Harry Potter.
- The only time I’ve seen him genuinely sad during a show was when his favorite contestant on The Quest—a reality series inspired by The Lord of the Rings—was eliminated. He got teary-eyed and quickly insisted, “I’m not crying!” Classic nerd move.
